19th century California newspapers

Abstract

A collection of single issues of newspapers from across California, including from San Francisco, Sacramento, Siskiyou, and Oakland. The collection also includes a few newspapers from Boston, New York, and Newport, Rhode Island. The issue of the New York Herald in the collection from April 15, 1865 announces Abraham Lincoln's death on the day that he died.

Abstract This collection consists of documents from the 299th Infantry Division of the German Wehrmacht. The 299th Infantry Division was formed in February 1940 as part of the 8th Wave. Its fought primarily in France from 1940 to 1941 and then moved to the Eastern Front, where it was destroyed in July 1944 and was disbanded April 1945.
